Morgan Streamside Stabilization
The Morgan Streambank Stabilization was done on the upper portions of Sinnemahoning Portage Creek near Gardeau. This was a 300 foot bank near an old pasture that was severely eroded away. Also on the opposite side but downstream was a 15 foot highwall that was severely eroded away. The first bank was sloped to a more stable angle and 8 upstream single log deflectors were installed to deter stream energy away from the bank. The opposite bank had R7 rip rap installed due to the very close proximity to the road. This spring along with members of the BWA this site will be planted with several hundred trees. This project was funded through the Chesapeake Bay Program of DEP.
